The second edition of the dialogue series New Store - Back Office will take place on Wednesday 14 June 2023 from 5 to 7.30 p.m. at the Keilepand, Rotterdam.
Featuring presentations by jewelry designer Irma Foldenyi, designer and researcher Selçuk Balamir, architect Tom Frantzen and others. The follow-up discussion will be led by Aric Chen (director Nieuwe Instituut) and Saskia van Stein (director IABR).
In a series of presentations, this edition will discuss what it will take to change the current financial model and how design can provide perspectives for alternative value creation.
This event is part of New Store - Back Office, a long-term collaboration between the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR) and Nieuwe Instituut (NI). The program focuses on thinking and imagining non-extractive value models. The IABR will focus on the ‘back office’: the extractive processes and systems behind consumption, such as (invisible) labour, infrastructure, distribution, and data.
